Positive signs ahead

The 2013 ICF Junior and Under-23 Canoe Sprint World Championships concluded overnight, with several promising results for Australia’s canoe sprint future.

Among the key performances for Australia was the final of the under-23 K4 1000m, where the Australian crew, featuring NSWIS athlete Scott Smith, finished sixth.

Joining Smith in ‘A’ finals at the championships were fellow NSWIS athletes Deandra Godoy, eighth in the junior women’s K4 500m; Amy Peters, ninth as part of the Australian under-23 women’s K4 500m crew, and Peter Euers and Riley Fitzsimmons who combined with two fellow Australians to finish fifth in the junior men’s K4 1000m.
