Farrow arrows to Australian best

NSWIS athlete John Farrow (@JohnFarrowAUS) has etched his name into the history books after producing Australia’s best result in the men’s skeleton at the Olympic Games.

Heading into the final two runs in 19th place, Farrow continued his strong form from the first day of racing to record a time of 57.75 seconds in his third run, confirming a fourth and final run after maintaining his spot on the leaderboard at 19th.

With the pressure off Farrow ended his debut Games’ campaign in the best possible fashion, clocking 57.35 seconds, the fastest of his four attemps on the Sochi track, to move up to 17th overall and secure Australia’s best ever result in the men’s skeleton at the Olympic Games.

Following two years of extensive rehabilitation and training from a devastating leg injury, Farrow said after the race he was keen to take some time off before priming himself for another tilt, and possibly another Australian record, at the Winter Olympics in four years’ time.

With Farrow the only NSWIS athlete in action overnight, the attention now turns to the women’s snowboard cross and ice dancing.
