Cronk calls time

NSWIS hockey player and Olympian Toni Cronk has called time on her illustrious international career, retiring after nearly 12 years at the top of the game.

The talented goalkeeper made her Australian debut in 2001 against trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand, before making her Olympic debut at the 2004 Athens Games, where Australia finished fifth.

Cronk won gold as a member of the Hockeyroos team at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, before again being selected for the Australian Olympic Team in 2008, when the Hockeyroos once again finished fifth in Beijing,

Another gold at the Commonwealth Games, this time in Delhi 2010, was followed by a third Olympic selection, where for the third consecutive time the Australian women’s hockey team finished fifth.

Cronk won silver medals at the prestigious Champions Trophy in 2005, 2006 and 2009, with her performance in 2009 leading to selection on the FIH All-Stars Team.

A veteran of 126 caps for the Australian team, Cronk’s skill and experience will be impossible for the Hockeyroos to replace.
